Maggie's World.

As I was looking over some pictures tonight I thought about what it must feel like to be Maggie.  To have been abandoned at birth, live in a crib in an orphanage and not know the love of a mother and father.
..To not know the love of a family.

Posted by Picasa
And now we find out that she may have never heard sounds, that she may be deaf in both ears.  I can't imagine what she has been through.  Chuck and I are so in love with this little girl, our daughter.  She is so precious to us and our hearts break to know that not only has she been abandoned and neglected, but she may have never heard our voices.  I am not being dramatic, but just stating the obvious truth.  It makes me so upset that there are too many little Maggie's in their cribs right now, all over the world, that have never known the love of a mother and father.  That might have health issues to overcome.  That might be neglected even more because of deformities. What do You do when you want to go get every orphan and just hold them and love them, tell them they matter and that it will be ok ?

We are comforted by the fact that our Maggie is home now, finally, and we are able to take her to a top Children's Hospital for tests and treatments.  We know also that all the tests so far are PRELIMINARY and we know God can heal our daughter.  It is my prayer that she is not deaf and just a stubborn little one who did not want to comply with the Audiologist.  But, her unresponsiveness to our sounds and voices tell us that she may be hearing impaired.  Of course, I have done my research and know that there are so many wonderful interventions now that help hearing impaired children hear ( Cochlear implants and others).  We have started teaching her baby sign language and the boys have oddly enough been taking sign language since August through a home-school class.  Thank you all for your prayers, encouraging words and dinners.  We are so grateful for the love that has been shown to us and to Maggie.
Hopefully, my next post will say " She can Hear, Praise God !".

You have been on my mind so much lately and I just so wish I didn't live all the way across the country so I could also be one to bring your family a meal.
What ever God has planned He does have your family in His hands just as He always has.
Keeping you all in my prayers.

Praying He does a mighty healing on your sweet girl. I have witnessed his healing touch on my own life and know He is a miracle working God. I am afraid that when we go to pick up our sweet girl in a few months I will want to bring home other babies as well. So glad He holds the orphans when others don't.

We are still praying for sweet Maggie, and despite what the doctor's say, we do serve the God that is in the Miracle business, and Jesus already bore all sickness and disease on the cross, so that we WERE healed... so we are claiming this and pleading the blood of Jesus over Maggie. She is just too precious and I am SO glad she is now safely in her family's arms where she will be loved and cared for her whole life through! I'm like you...what happens when I travel to bring Khloe home and want to snatch up all of those little kiddos and take them with me. Praying that more families follow the call to care for the least of these, and enrich their own lives through the blessings of adoption!

Love ya,
~Tanya

Kathy,

Sending you all a big (((hug)))), and of course, sending up prayers!

As you know well, God chose this little one especially for you. Although this must come as a shock, remember...He will equip you. Even though Maggie may not hear your voice, she HAS experienced your love, and her heart knows you all so well.

I'll pray for His healing, and strength for you all, as you move forward with further testing.

Even though this wasn't something you thought was in the plan....His glory will be revealed.

Your words make my heart ache thinking of the children left behind...but you have changed the world for your sweet Maggie, and I know she is changing yours.

Much love,
Tami

Oh Kathy, I can only imagine how your heart hurts for Maggie. But you and I both know we serve "the great physician" and we know he is Mighty. I will be praying for complete healing for that sweet baby girl. I wish there was something I could do to help you.

God has BIG plans for Maggie and regardless of the outcome of her tests, he will accomplish those things! BIG HUGS TO YOU ALL!

Oh Kathy and Chuck! You are such beautiful people--your hearts are pure and your faith is soooo very deep and His promise will be fulfilled for you and Maggie.

I have two things I wanted to share. One is another family that brought the most precious little boy home and discovered he was deaf. He just had a colear implant just before Thanksgiving. This family is so amazing. Melissa is the sweetest woman, I just know she'd understand what you're feeling better than anyone and is a nurse and might be able to make suggestions from a medical standpoint. Here is her blog: http://roslevegefamily.blogspot.com/

Also--another family I have come to know on this journey has the most precious little dress they are trying to find a home for that has Maggie on the front. I don't know if she's already found a home for it, but it's a hand-made dress. Made by a mom that is also adopting. Very special-I thought of your maggie immediately...Here is her blog post--her daughters name is Maggie and has been home since 2007. http://journeytomaggiemae.blogspot.com/2010/01/good-news-all-around.html

I'm praying for you Kathy. I know God is able to perform miracles big and small. We have experienced this over and over--as I'm sure you have. Love and God Bless--
