Christmas and Maggie's Broken Hearing Aid

Maggie's BAHA ( hearing aid) broke the Friday before Christmas. We had to send it off to get fixed on Christmas Eve and were so thankful we bought the extended warranty to cover things like this. Her Baha was very expensive and essential to Maggie's everyday life. I would describe it as almost like another limb or a part of her body. It has become such a help to Maggie that she really doesn't live in a hearing impaired world. Her Baha allows her to live in a hearing world. And that is just amazing !

So, we all had Christmas on Christmas Eve so Maggie could hear. We knew once we sent off her hearing aid, she would be distraught ( and she was ). But, we made it through and received a brand new fixed Baha  four days later. Maggie said " I hear LOUD" when we put it on her head !
And here is what Maggie and the boys got for Christmas :

A new book - No, David ! by David Shannon.  Maggie thinks this book is so funny.

A bath tub fishing set. The fish have magnets on them and so does the fishing rod.

Another bath tub toy - Tub Tunes. It's a set of flutes that you play in the tub. Maggie loves them ! And some more Loving Family dollhouse furniture : The baby room.

Maggie loves playing with her dollhouse and all the tiny furniture and people. She's got a ton of it and she plays with it more than any of her other toys.

The boys got a Kindle Fire HD.

They loved it !

Look at those smiles !

Everyone got stockings filled with goodies on Christmas Day.

Maggie's was filled with Pez candy and a new princess coloring book and a new box of colors.

I hope and pray that everyone had a wonderful Christmas ! I spent a lot of time resting and reading my new Kindle ( Chuck and I got one too).  And loving on my family.
Happy New Year !

Gotcha Day Anniversary - Three years ago !

Today we celebrate Maggie's Gotcha Day. Three years ago we met Maggie for the first time. She was tired and cranky and we were overwhelmed with how much we loved her.

Maggie has blossomed into such a beautiful, sweet and silly little girl.

But, she is quick to say that she is a big girl !

Four years old !

We Are Thankful.

This year has been a year of blessings and thankfulness.

We are Thankful that Maggie's heart is functioning great and her BAHA surgery went well.

We are thankful Maggie is talking in complete sentences and recently tested in the "average to above average" in language and communication.

We are thankful we said yes to adopting a "special needs" baby girl from China.

We are thankful for two amazing boys that love their little sister so much.

We are thankful for kind and sweet children that love the Lord and Honor their parents.

The Watch

Maggie turned four years old on October 29th !!
We celebrated over several days with some small gifts and lots of cake.
The only thing she asked for was a new watch.

Since she's been into Cowboys lately ( YEE HAW ), we gave her a cute cowboy watch with horses on it.

Maggie loves watches !!! And she was so smitten with this one. Until, a couple of days later she asked for another watch - a spider man watch ! How funny.  She changes her mind about things about as much as I do !

We Survived the Fall Crazies !

It seemed that we were never home this fall. Maggie started Ballet and she loves it !  She has the sweetest teacher that she absolutely adores and looks up to.  Our little girl can do a tondo and a releve
( for all you ballet people).

Maggie also had the first of two surgeries for her BAHA placement ( hearing aid). The surgeon drilled a 4 mm hole in her skull and  placed a "screw". We go back in five months for Maggie's second surgery that will enable her BAHA hearing aid to snap onto her skull. She did great and her doctor said that her skull was nice and thick - yippee !!

Will played an awesome season as wide receiver for the Falcons.  He had practice two times a week and played a game one time a week, so football kept us very busy !!  He also read Tim Tebows biography ( which is incredibly good) and was challenged in many ways.

Walker played soccer for his school and did a lot of traveling with his team for out of town games. He practiced two times a week and played about every week too !! But, as crazy as all the sports and ballet are - I realized that it's all worth it to us because our children LOVE what they do. So that made all the shuffling to and from practices and games not bad at all .  Although, Chuck and I are so glad that football and soccer season is over !  We feel like we can breathe again.

We had fun this year dressing up for our church's fall festival and Reformation Celebration.
Most of the smaller children had no clue who we were. Ha !

 Happy Fall Ya'll !
