In April Maggie had her last surgery for her BAHA ( Bone Anchored Hearing Aid). It went great and I thought I would do an update on how Maggie is doing
You can see the small black box hearing aid in this picture, It is small, blends in with her hair and has a tiny red light so we can tell that it is on. The BAHA is attached to an abutment on her skull. The abutment is attached to a small titanium implant post that was placed by drilling a tiny hole in her skull.
The BAHA is barely visible to most people and allows Maggie better hearing and more freedom.
We love it !

My daughter we adopted from China is going to have this surgery Tuesday. How long did your daughter have to wait before you were able to put the actual hearing device on?
Our Dr. told us she would have to wait 6 months before we could attach it. Just wondering if y'all had to wait that long
Thanks!
Kristin, Maggie's first surgery was to put the "screw" in her skull and we had to wait about 6 months before she could have her second surgery. Once her second surgery was done, we only had to wait about a week before she could wear her BAHA on the abutment. Maggie was able to get the new kind of abutment. We were told with the old one you had to wait about a month before the BAHA could be attached. Hope this helps !!! Kathy
