Ella Knot Pattern Review.

This is the Ella Knot Pattern by Carrie at Sew Happy and I am so happy that I found her blog and Etsy shop.  This knot pattern is very popular right now and you can find many different versions of this pattern ( I have three).  But, I have to say that I love Carrie's pattern the best.  It is a PDF downloadable pattern that is very easy and straight forward.  I made the top while Maggie napped one afternoon.  The shorts/capri pattern is from youcanmakethis.com and it is the easy fit pants pattern that I just shortened.

The Ella Knot pattern can be lengthened to make a dress or you can just leave it a lone as a shirt.  Also, if you go to Carrie's blog you can see all the beautiful outfits she has made.  I love to look at what fabric/color combinations she is using.  It is very inspiring and makes me want to sew all day.

Maggie's Closet

This is one of my favorites that I have made so far ! The fabric is from
Heather Bailey 's Pop Garden and the pattern is from The Hand Made Dress

I would love for Maggie to wear this special outfit on the day we make her adoption official in China.

These ruffle pants are so fun to make and easy !

They are from Sandi Henderson's patterns and the fabric is from her Farmers Market line. I really hope they fit her ! We'll see.....

Dresses, hair bows and Maggie's room

These two dresses are my newest creations. The pattern is from here I modified it a little and I love them.





I hosted a sewing party the last two Sunday nights. Five wonderful and talented ladies came over and we all cut, pinned and sewed together. I showed them how to make the reversible jumper dress for their little ones. Also, we were all blessed by my newest best friend Ashley. She showed us how to make these adorable hair bows. I never thought I would be making bows for my little girls hair !



And lastly, Maggie's room is slowly coming along.
I am sure it will start to fill up with toys and baby dolls soon !

100 Dresses

To welcome and celebrate a new life, there is a tradition in China to make a Bai Jia Bei, or "100 Good Wishes Quilt".

I really wanted to have a quilt made for Maggie, but I have never made a quilt and I do not know anyone that quilts. So, I never got started with it.

But, I have been sewing a lot of dresses. So, instead of a 100 Good Wishes Quilt, she may have "100 Dresses sewed with LOVE" by me !

Even my sweet hubby has gotten involved and made a pattern for this cute dress !
( as he watched a football game of course ). We call it "THE CHUCK" dress... ok not the cutest name for a dress, but he was so proud of his design. I used a 12 month onsie and the most adorable fabric.

I tried some of the dresses on my friends little girl who is just about the same size as Maggie should be in December. They fit her so good ( a little big) and were so cute on her !

I am just a beginner sewer, but I really enjoy sewing. I am learning as I go and have made a lot of mistakes ! I am trying new and more complicated patterns and am loving it ! It also helps "pass the time" as we wait for our travel approval.

The Apron Dress

I finally, found the apron dress pattern at a very nice fabric store and picked out these delicious fabrics. It took me three days to complete the dress. It is definitely for the adventurous sewer ! But, I was determined to at least try my best. I think it turned out pretty good. In fact, I am so completely astonished that I actually made this dress.

I first saw the apron dress on ETSY and knew that I loved this whimsical style. Well, now I am going to try the pants with a ruffle at the bottom. My confidence is boosted and I am on a sewing high. It is so fun to imagine our little Maggie in all these dresses, but we are really ready for the real thing !!

I am having WAY to much fun sewing these dresses. It definitely is more fun than cooking, cleaning and doing laundry !

I made a dress !

Isn't it so cute ? I wish I could say it was easy peasy, but the directions were not as detailed as I would have like them to be. I cut out the pattern wrong, and had to go back to the fabric store and buy all new fabric. But, after I got it cut out and penned together, it was pretty easy to sew. I really enjoyed putting it together and now I am a hooked on sewing these cute dresses. The fun part is picking out fabric and imagining it on our Maggie !

Sewing Project for Maggie !!

I am going to make Maggie a little A-Line jumper ! I have always wanted to sew little dresses and now I really get to. When the boys were little, I smocked them little John-Johns. My mom used to sew me clothes when I was little and my Grandmother sewed too. So, I learned a little about sewing from them. Stay tuned...I hope it turns out pretty and straight !!!
